I read this in my devotional this morning and immediately wanted to share it with you. As you already know, I love make-up, jewelry and clothes like the next girl. Heck yeah!!!!... First Peter encourages women like myself to also carry within themselves an inward beauty. This verse and text below was from my devotional entitled 100 Favorite Bible Verses for Women by Hallmark Books.
I Peter 3:3-4 NKJV
Do not let your adornment be merely outward – arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel – rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
"What God most wants to see in you is gentleness – sometimes called “power under control.” This means a woman can control herself, her words, and her actions. She is powerful, respectable, and strong, and at the same time she is sweet and gentle. She is also quiet and still before God. She listens for his voice and seeks his blessing. In a world that screams for attention, a woman with a gentle and quiet spirit impresses God. She has imperishable beauty, and God calls her precious."
As a housewife, I budget. If I have the opportunity to save a penny, I'm going to do it. However, some products are worth the price tag.
